About
John Oamen builds systems for African construction. The story is best told as a progression of problems — each one uncovered by solving the last.

The origin
John Oamen didn't set out to build a technology company. He set out to solve a problem that had frustrated Nigeria's construction sector for decades: the gap between developers with vision and institutions with capital, with almost nothing structured enough to connect them.
That frustration became Cutstruct. That mission became his life's work.
With over a decade spanning construction advisory, deal structuring and institutional investor engagement, John works at the exact point where a developer's ambition must be repackaged into something a pension fund manager, DFI or private equity vehicle can confidently underwrite — across affordable housing, mixed-use development, urban infrastructure and PPP transactions.
“The challenge in Nigerian construction is rarely the vision. It is the structure. Most developers know what they want to build. Very few know how to present it in a way that institutional capital can underwrite. That gap is what I have dedicated my work to closing.”

Through project execution work, including Faultless Finish, the problem changed shape. Delivery is where intentions meet materials, labour, sequencing and cost — and where most projects quietly lose their margin.
03
Cutstruct began at the procurement layer: sourcing, pricing and transparency for construction materials. Data made the invisible parts of a project legible, and visibility turned out to be the precondition for trust.

The work now sits closer to capital: bankability, finance readiness, delivery-linked structures and the institutional systems that let African infrastructure be funded at scale.
A personal note
John has publicly described himself as a husband and a father of twins.
Family is mentioned here because he has said it himself, and because it explains something about the patience in the work. Beyond that, this page keeps his private life private.
